Principal Podiatrist
Dr Angelo Velho
Angelo has spent more than a decade treating feet, ankles and lower limbs — across elite sport, community sport and paediatrics. He is the principal podiatrist and owner of Hypaforma, consulting from Applecross and Leederville.
His clinical interest is rehabilitation: getting the limb strong enough to handle the load being asked of it, rather than managing symptoms indefinitely. That means exercise prescription, strength and conditioning, and a clear return-to-sport plan — with footwear, manual therapy and orthotic support used where they genuinely help.
Alongside clinic work he co-presents Foot and Ankle: Research to Rehab, a professional development course for other clinicians.

Our approach
Three principles that shape every plan.
None of this makes other approaches wrong. It means that when there's a choice between managing a symptom and building the capacity underneath it, we'll generally recommend the second — and explain why.
Load before inserts
Most lower-limb pain is a load problem: the tissue is being asked to do more than it currently tolerates. The durable fix is usually building capacity through graded strength work, not permanently offloading it. Orthoses and footwear changes have a real role — as support while that capacity is built, or where structure genuinely requires them.
Measured, not guessed
Assessment uses VALD ForceDecks and structured movement analysis, so strength deficits and asymmetries are numbers you can see rather than impressions. Those numbers set the starting point and then show whether the plan is working.
A finish line, not a subscription
Every plan is built toward a specific outcome — back to training, back on the beam, walking comfortably — with the milestones written down. You should always know what you're working toward and roughly how long it should take.
Working in sport
Football, gymnastics, dance.
Three sports with very different demands on the lower limb — and regular sideline work in all three keeps the clinic honest about what actually holds up under load.
