Rehabilitation & Conditioning
Targeted exercise programs that build the capacity the injured limb is missing.
Rehabilitation is the part of the plan that changes the outcome. Manual therapy and footwear can reduce symptoms, but the reason pain stays away is that the tissue got stronger. Programs are prescribed, progressed and re-tested — and kept short enough that you'll actually do them.
What's involved
Graded loading
Starting at a level the tissue tolerates today and progressing on defined criteria, so you're never guessing whether to add load.
Strength and conditioning integration
Programs written to fit alongside your existing gym or club program rather than competing with it.
Few exercises, done properly
A short program you complete beats a long one you abandon. We'd rather prescribe three movements you'll do than nine you won't.
Re-testing
Objective measures repeated through the program, so progression decisions are evidence-based and you can see the change.
What to expect
Your appointment, stage by stage.
Assessment
History, physical examination, gait and movement analysis, and objective strength testing where it's relevant. We're building a picture of what the limb can currently tolerate.
Diagnosis
A clear explanation of what's happening and why — in plain language, with the reasoning shown. Imaging or onward referral where it will change the plan.
Treatment
A staged plan combining manual therapy, exercise prescription, footwear or orthotic support and activity modification, weighted to what your presentation actually needs.
Follow-up
Re-testing against the baseline so progress is measured, not assumed, and the plan adjusts as capacity improves.
Common questions
Rehab & Conditioning, answered.
How often do I need to come in?
Less often than you might expect. Most of the work happens in your own training; appointments are for assessment, progression and problem-solving.
Do I need a gym membership?
No. Plenty of effective loading can be done at home with minimal equipment. If you do have gym access we'll use it.
What if I've already tried exercises that didn't work?
That's common, and usually the issue is dose rather than exercise choice — not enough load, not enough progression, or stopped too early. We'd want to see what you tried before assuming it failed.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. If you're in pain, an assessment is the only way to know what's actually happening — book online or call 9284 0736.
