A clinician examining a patient's lower leg during assessment

Precision Testing

VALD ForceDecks strength testing and movement analysis, so progress is measured rather than assumed.

Feeling better and being ready are different things, and the gap between them is where re-injury happens. Force plate testing and structured movement analysis turn strength, symmetry and load tolerance into numbers — which makes both the starting point and the return-to-sport decision far less of a guess.

What's involved

VALD ForceDecks

Dual force plate testing for jump, hop and isometric strength measures, including left-right asymmetry that's invisible to the eye.

Movement and gait analysis

Structured observation of walking, running and sport-specific movement to identify where load is being redistributed.

Baseline and re-test

The first test sets the reference point; repeat tests through the program show whether capacity is actually improving.

Pre-season screening

Useful for athletes and squads wanting a baseline before the season, so any mid-season injury has something to be compared against.

What to expect

Your appointment, stage by stage.

01

Assessment

History, physical examination, gait and movement analysis, and objective strength testing where it's relevant. We're building a picture of what the limb can currently tolerate.

02

Diagnosis

A clear explanation of what's happening and why — in plain language, with the reasoning shown. Imaging or onward referral where it will change the plan.

03

Treatment

A staged plan combining manual therapy, exercise prescription, footwear or orthotic support and activity modification, weighted to what your presentation actually needs.

04

Follow-up

Re-testing against the baseline so progress is measured, not assumed, and the plan adjusts as capacity improves.

Common questions

Precision Testing, answered.

Is testing necessary for every patient?

No. It earns its place where load tolerance is the central question — sport, return-to-play, persistent injury. For a straightforward nail or skin presentation it isn't relevant.

What does the testing involve?

A series of short jumps, hops and held contractions on force plates. It takes a few minutes and isn't strenuous beyond brief maximal effort.

Can I get the results?

Yes — we go through them with you at the appointment, and they can be shared with your coach or physio if you'd like.

This page is general information, not a diagnosis. If you're in pain, an assessment is the only way to know what's actually happening — book online or call 9284 0736.

Hi — I can explain what the clinic treats, how an assessment works, and where we are. I can't diagnose, so anything clinical needs an appointment.
